Who knows what will "go to market", but we are committed to improvement and it sure is fun to play around.

Iceman bikes. Most companies scramble to get sweet stuff built up for Interbike - but here in Michigan, we target the annual fall classic - Iceman Cometh race in Northern Michigan. Over 2000 folks take to the trail during this 28 mile drag race. Take a look at some of our newest "project" bikes that we had at the Iceman.

Freak on freak. This was conceived and brought into light with a little help from our friends over at project 321 , and Brad Bacon. This is one great ride. This is not recommended for shy people, we already get more stares than a whore in church. Take a bike with no down tube, and pair it with half a fork and you will get stuck talking at the trailhead for sure!

FRIPPER 6-9. Mix one part Farmboy and one part Ripper and hold on! The "FRIPPER" is going to change the way you pack your saddle bag. The bump destroying Farmboy 29 front end mated to the fast tracking Ripper 26 rear, provide one of the quickest handling big boys on the trail.

DD-X Single. In honor of the "You can't do that" rule, we bring you the DD-X. Breaking the mold with Kenda Karma 2.2 29" in the front, with a Ritchey 42 in the rear - this was the ultimate single-speed sand machine for the Iceman. Drop bars, top mount brake levers and a 38 x 16 gear was the ticket - a broken chain was the only thing that kept the DD-X from a podium finish.

Farmboy 29". This pimped out Farmboy is light, plush and fast. Built up for Danielle Musto's assault on the Iron Cross race in PA. Two thumbs up from Danielle - as she scored a podium finish the first time she rode it.

More spy photos from Market Street...

This is a full-sus design that we have been playing with for the past few years. The no-shock design rides sweet - but not as fast as our current bikes, and not as plush as some other killer stuff on the market. We will continue to tweak it and see what happens.

One of our first prototypes of this design from 2002.

Fold-Tech 6-9 Single. This is a killer ride - a 6-9 Folding single speed that we've been riding for the past year. This bike lead us to build the "Fripper" and remains one of the most fun bikes we have.

ENO Farmboy. This Farmboy is set-up with the White Industries ENO eccentric disc hub which quickly turns the Farmboy into a one speed. This bike was ridden to a few pro wins this year and is our top choice for singlespeed set-up.

Road Projects. Don't worry - we are still working on new road projects.

AL Hb. Aluminum front, steel seat tube, carbon stays...nice ride.

Al road proto. This is our aluminum road prototype. This is one fast bike - but further tweaking and re-works will push possible release into late 2007 or 2008.

Visit Slingshotbikes.com, email us, or call 888-530-5556 for information on our products.
Slingshot bikes

Killer frame deals!

SOLD! 56cm DD-X Cyclo-Cross frame with Alpha Q carbon fork and FSA headset. After two consecutive 2nd place finishes, Toni Musto took the top step of the women's podium at the 28 mile Ore To Shore mountain bike epic last weekend. Riding like at seasoned veteran - the 16 year old Slingshot rider controlled the race from the start on way to a 2 minute win over last year's winner Anne Grabowski.

Riding her Slingshot Ripper, Toni averaged an incredible 17.5 MPH and finished 26th overall among the 923 men and women who started the race.

Also doing the 28 mile event - Niel Scharphon decided to ride his Farmboy 29" singlespeed in the open class and see if it was possible to win with just one gear. The road sections proved to much of an advantage for the geared riders - and Niel came accross the line in 7th overall. Niel finished over 7 minutes ahead of the next singlespeed finisher.

In the 48 mile event - Slingshot had three riders in the hunt with Cole House finishing 6th in the men's class, Russ Tiles 11th, and Danielle Musto getting an impressive 4th overall in the women's division.
Slingshot bikes

DD-X Cross Frame Sale

Pre-Season Cyclo-Cross Sale on Slingshot DD-X frame and fork combo

Regular price: $1,250
Sale price: $995!

Frame/fork details:

The main triangle of the DD-X is butted lightweight 7005 aluminum which Slingshot has designed specific for cross. The event got the best of most riders, with only 62 riders crossing the finish line. "It was fast from the gun and guys were dropping like crazy" said Tiles. "I had to stay focused on picking people off each lap and was able to make my way up to 3rd" - finishing in 7 hours and 52 minutes.

The lumberjack 100 was also the official Michigan state singlespeed championship. Danielle Musto moved outside of her normal spin crazy style, and jumped on her one-speed Ripper with the hopes of a State Championship. "I had two goals for the race...win the singlespeed championship and podium in the women's overall field" said Musto. Both goals were achieved, with Danielle finishing in 9 hours 10 minutes and winning the SS race by a big margin - putting her on the podium with a 3rd place overall. "The course was deceptively hard, made up of short rolling hills and twisting wooded singletrack. This was the hardest race that I have competed in".

Getting the un-official "Big MF'er" award is Aaron Smith who rode his Slingshot 29" the entire 100 with a fixed gear. Smith time was in 12 hours 33 minutes. Smith finished with another Slingshot 29" owner - Nate Phelps who also did the 100 miler with one gear. Awesome job guys!

Scharphorn Scores Singlespeed Wins at Keweenaw Chain Drive and T.K. Passing on the Lumberjack - Niel made a major road trip to the U.P. of Michigan to compete in teh Keweenau Chain Drive in Houghton. The challenging 32 mile point to point event make gear selection a crucial due to the constant terrain changes. Niel seemed to fine the right one - winning the singlespeed class and coming in 5th overall.
Scharphorn stayed closer to home this week - racing at T.K. Lawless TT. Doing both the elite and singlespeed classes - Niel scored a 2nd in the Elite and a Win in the SS class (while turning the fastest lap of the day).

Check out Scharphorn's Farmboy 29" with White Industries Eno/Velocity conversion.
Slingshot bikes

Scharphorn scores double singlespeed win over weekend

SCHARPHORN SCORES DOUBLE SS WINS OVER WEEKEND

Testing out his new Farmboy 29" singlespeed with White Industries/Velocity wheels with eccentric hub - Niel Scharphorn traveled most of Michigan for two days of racing. First up was the Pontiac Lake (near Detroit) TT - where Niel put 1 1/2 minutes on Spike (another GR ss honch). Then he packed up and went north to Grayling for the Hansen Hills XC. Racing the ss class - Niel crushed the field by over 8 minutes while also turning faster laps than all the pro/elite men.

Niel was testing out our new Farmboy 29" singlespeed conversion kit which we will be selling soon. The kit will be priced around $2,000 (still working out all the details) and will include:

-Slingshot Farmboy 29" frame

-White Industries/Velocity eccentric wheelset

-Sibex ti 29" fork

-King HS

-Kenda Kharma tires

In other race news: racing in Wisconsin at the WORS race on Sunday, Cole House made his debut on his Slingshot Ripper. The race started with a Lemans style start around the pit area. Running was brutal. It was about 95 degrees out and we started in a field with no tree coverage. As much as I hate running, it was good that we did it to break up the all of the racers. After getting on our bikes we hit a long-ish climb that dumped into singletrack. I was the first female soloist to hit the singletrack but I knew that the other's weren't far behind. After the first two laps I had only 1.5 minutes on Carey Lowery (I knew from past races how fast she is.)

The course was so much fun that I never got sick of it. It's funny though, with each lap the downhills seemed longer apart and I felt like there was more and more climbing. I lost track of what time it was and what lap I was on. I figured that I would know when it was midnight because the race website advertised that there would be a "midnight alien abduction."

Morning came before I knew it and I was able to stop racing at 10:45. I finished in first place in the female solo division with 28 laps and was third overall out of the guys!
