Toni Musto wins 28 mile Ore to Shore race

MARQUETTE, August 12, 2006. After two consecutive 2nd place finishes, Toni Musto took the top step of the women's podium at the 28 mile Ore To Shore mountain bike epic last weekend. Riding like at seasoned veteran - the 16 year old Slingshot rider controlled the race from the start on way to a 2 minute win over last year's winner Anne Grabowski.

Riding her Slingshot Ripper, Toni averaged an incredible 17.5 MPH and finished 26th overall among the 923 men and women who started the race.

Also doing the 28 mile event - Niel Scharphon decided to ride his Farmboy 29" singlespeed in the open class and see if it was possible to win with just one gear. The road sections proved to much of an advantage for the geared riders - and Niel came accross the line in 7th overall. Niel finished over 7 minutes ahead of the next singlespeed finisher.

In the 48 mile event - Slingshot had three riders in the hunt with Cole House finishing 6th in the men's class, Russ Tiles 11th, and Danielle Musto getting an impressive 4th overall in the women's division.
